“I have loved mathematics since I was small but I think it was because of the teacher and my willingness to learn. This was because my father beats me each time I fail a math class. So I grow to never fail a mathematical problem.

The current maths are very tough for students because of their complexity and I believe there are easy ways to solve these problems but they chose the hard way. Due to the way students find it difficult to answer questions in class, I sit and make alternatives to students so they can solve maths easily. So I put this principle on social media and people commented on it. One of them had the same goal as mine, who is even ahead of me. Then a brother of mine talked about this person’s zeal in order to carry everyone along so there will be no dull students of mathematics. This person was no other than MR TYAIR DORSEY, my boss and a father, who has a wonderful view of mathematics and to show the world that no one is dull when it comes to mathematics.

The most interesting part is the patterning of all numbers, just like if you want to spell a word, you have to learn the alphabets. Not only that, you must know your vowel sounds and consonants in order to spell well. So these patterns are like, you know the number and its behavior so you can do any calculation pertaining to that number because of its pattering. And not forgetting the cycle number and cypher number of each number makes you advance in it.

My plans as a Character Maths Member, is to let Africa know that Character Maths is the best way so far for both pupils and students, to learn mathematics,  and to promote Character Maths to be acceptable on each school scheme. For Character Maths to be taught every year to improve African students towards getting this done so not to depend on another to dictate their future.”

“I am pleased to provide you with an update on the progress our students have made since implementing the Character Math program. Over the past 6 weeks, we have diligently applied these math strategies, and the results have been truly encouraging.

Among our cohort of 26 students, we have observed a significant improvement in their mastery of multiplication facts. A remarkable 17 students have reported an immediate increase in their ability to memorize these facts, rating the program with a stellar 5 out of 5 stars for its ease of use and effectiveness. Additionally, five students have rated it four stars, expressing that they are still in the process of internalizing both the patterns and multiplication facts.

Based on our experience, we wholeheartedly recommend the Character Math program for its ability to facilitate rapid and comprehensive learning of multiplication, not only for third graders but for learners of all ages who seek accelerated mastery of this fundamental mathematical skill.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude for introducing us to this invaluable method, and we anticipate continued success as we further integrate it into our curriculum.”

“I was intrigued and a bit mesmerized when introduced to Character Math by Ms. Pilar Ammons in the fall of 2023. Since that day, I have shared this wonder with students at Matchbook Learning and witnessed a light-bulb glow of self confidence. Beginning with eights (8’s) and working through sixes (6’s), fours (4’s), sevens (7’s) and threes (3’s) have never been this easy.

This is a tool that will not only help math scores increase on aptitude testing but most importantly enhance students’ self assurance. Thank you for sharing Character Math with me.”

“I used Character Math during the past school year. I am sold on the concept and strategy; I personally think the 12 x 12 chart should be archived and replaced by Character Math. I started the school year with the majority of my 5th graders not knowing their math facts. This made a hard job of teaching math even harder. The utilization of Character Math allowed my students to access their math fact quickly and helped them to stop using their fingers.

I believe without Character Math many of my students would not have been successful with 3 by 2, 3 by 3 multiplication, long division, as well as, other standards. Although, your fingers are manipulatives I do not want my 5th and 6th grade students counting on their fingers as they move to higher grades. It stagnates them from becoming expert learners. Character Math helped my students access their facts and made their learning and my teaching much easier and successful.

Character Math was like re-inventing the wheel! This is an outstanding tool that can be taught as early as 2nd grade. Giving all students a step up and a step ahead. I totally endorse and support Character Math! I see a bright future for those that start utilizing this amazing tool!”

“I highly recommend the Character Math Program.  During the month of January 2019 we had 4th & 5th students from Stubbs Elementary School participate in the Character Math Program. By the end of the week the students had grasp the fundamental concepts of the Character Math Program, and were very engaged during the math sessions.

I am extremely impressed with the Character Math Program and how the students were learning and developing a new love for math and math concepts.  The instructor was very good, he took his time, answered questions from students, while maintaining student’s attention.

In my opinion the Character Math Program is a quality math program that would benefit students to increase their math comprehension.”

“Character Math can be run before math class to aid mathematical academics or, it can be run as an after School activity for students that are falling behind & need more attention in general.”

“This was our very first class. These students mean so much towards the development of Character Math. The involvement of these students will always be the throttle of the program. We did this class over the Summer of 2018. Listen to their genuine honesty.”
